    1. In this caption I like to leave a few things to the imagination. If you want further details, it looks like the next comment down from yours has an interesting idea.

I know I like compete stories in many of my captions. But this is one, where I kind of want the reader to write in their mind what happens afterwards.

  2. When I got home to my "new" house, at least for the weekend, I decided to take a shower first and then dress casually. Since we had each other's personalities through the swap, I didn't have to bother looking or finding anything I needed. However, opening the top drawer of the bedside table was a little too enthusiastic, causing the drawer to land on the floor and the back of it to come loose. This was easy to repair, and the other items quickly found their familiar place in the drawer again. Then my eye fell on a folded, yellowed and slightly wrinkled piece of paper. I picked it up and put it in my dressing gown pocket. Once downstairs I made myself a pot of strong Chinese tea, and settled in on the couch for a quiet evening of reading. Then the note came to me, I unfolded it and read what it said, a name and a telephone number: Richard Maria Johannes Delaware, telephone (........).
A wave of memories washed over me, I remembered how my good friend Diana (actually my mother, but I was already used to being "Valorie".) and I together with our friends did all kinds of things together. Diana was then married to her boyfriend (actually my father), while my boyfriend had suddenly disappeared, without leaving a message. While I was still struggling with my feelings for my then boyfriend - I am still single now - the doorbell rang. Surprised by the ringing of the bell at this late hour, I opened the door—then stood stunned: it was my former friend, Richard... . He opened the conversation with a smile: "Hello Valorie, I've finally found you." Surprised, overwhelmed and blushing, I invited him in. After I poured us both a cup of tea, we started talking about his sudden disappearance earlier. It turned out that both his parents had suddenly died at the same time, forcing him to head home, both for business and private arrangements, without being able to leave a message; we hadn't exchanged phone numbers yet. When he finally caught his breath more than half a year later, he could no longer find my trail (back). Since then he kept looking for me, he was also still single, and finally he had found me again. Our feelings for each other seemed to have lost none of their strength, and one thing led to another. Our weekend together flew by, and luckily I managed to call the "original" Valorie to myself for a short period of time and tell them what had happened this weekend. I could almost see her smile through the phone when she said she wanted to let me choose, she was now blissfully happy to be the son of her best friend. The moment she gave this answer, I realized in a flash that this just had to be the case, and overwhelmed with emotion and love for both the original Valorie and Richard, we decided to leave the situation as it was. When Richard and I married a year later, both Diana and her "son" were our guests of honor.... . - Tom -
