After a few days of experiencing this maddening bustle and stress herself, the "new" Kelly unexpectedly got a weekend of rest. The company she worked for had bundled a number of minor maintenance jobs together so that they could all be completed in a single weekend. To clear her head and relax a bit, she decided to go into town alone on Saturday. While walking she reached the old center of the city and remembered something she wanted to visit. As she turned the corner, she saw an elderly woman sitting dazed against the wall of a building, on the sidewalk. Next to her was a broken shopping bag, and all kinds of groceries were scattered around. She had several minor scrapes and looked a bit absent. The "new" Kelly decided to help her and dabbed the scrapes with a clean cloth and water (she always had a bottle in her backpack). After the older woman had been groomed and recovered, she asked what had happened. It turned out that she had been run over by a very hasty passer-by, who had paid no attention to her at all after the collision and had just kept running. The "new" Kelly asked where she lived, and decided to take her home.
It turned out that there was a particularly beautiful, bright and spacious bakery and pastry shop at the address indicated. The older woman turned out to live above, along with her daughter, who managed this business. Once inside, the owner took care of her mother and also asked the "new Kelly if she could stay a little longer. After taking care of her mother, the owner, who turned out to be called Samantha, started chatting with "Kelly". "Kelly" also rediscovered her old, almost forgotten love for baking pastry. It also turned out that Samantha could really use an extra permanent staff member, because it was always very difficult to schedule the days off. to join Samantha, and when the latter asked if that wouldn't be difficult with her work and studies, "Kelly" replied that this would improve the existing situation: she would immediately quit her "old" job and work with Samantha With a smile on his lips, "Kelly" imagined the surprise of the original Kelly, if he swapped back with her in a week's time.... . - Tom -
