  1. And then, after several months had passed and I had become completely used to living like Vanessa, and I had found absolute peace in and for myself, then I met him. Not only was he masculine, he was truly loving and caring: Arthur, my then-future husband, whom I married over a year later, and after another year our first child was born, an adorable daughter. And now we have another daughter and a son. We have been married for about twenty years now, and our oldest daughter is already in her first year of study. A lot of good came out of this forced, "unwanted" swap. I pondered all this after the lengthy phone call I'd had with Becca, in which she told me that living with Chandler was no longer possible. Within a few years of their marriage, he had gone from a loving husband to an outright control freak, making her life and her marriage increasingly stifling. She also wanted children, while Chandler constantly denied them. In the end, he became both psychologically and physically abusive and she was left with nothing but to call the police and get herself divorced from Chandler.... . The "original" Vanessa had apparently forgotten the meaning of the old saying "Take what you will and pay the price that God asks." - Tom -
